Find out what the collection includes
Ask whether the provider collects a detached dishwasher or also handles extraction from beneath the counter. The two jobs can involve different skills and time. If the unit is still installed, say so at the first conversation. A photograph of a dishwasher already on a driveway describes a much simpler scope than a machine still fixed inside a kitchen.
Describe the connections without disturbing them
A built-in dishwasher has water, drainage and electrical connections. Some electrical connections are hardwired. Have a suitable professional assess and disconnect them where needed. You do not need to expose wiring or undo plumbing to prepare an inquiry; report what you can see safely and leave uncertain connections for assessment.
Check the floor edge
If a new floor was laid around an existing appliance, the opening may have less clearance than when the dishwasher was installed. A lip in front of the machine can obstruct removal. Photograph the floor and underside of the countertop from a safe position. Do not force the unit against the countertop or assume that cutting cabinetry is part of a pickup.
Empty and contain
Remove dishes and loose items before the agreed appointment. Residual water may remain in hoses or the machine, so ask how it should be prepared and contained. Follow the manufacturer’s model-specific instructions. Towels are useful for an accidental drip, but they do not replace proper disconnection and a dry route through the house.
A short scope checklist
Record built-in or portable; still installed or detached; known power connection type; water and drain status; floor lip; visible damage; route to the door; stairs; replacement-delivery date. Share the checklist when requesting an estimate and ask which work must be completed beforehand.
What to do if it will not slide out
Stop and have the obstruction assessed. A bracket, hose, wire or floor edge may be involved. Forcing the appliance risks damage to the kitchen and does not establish a safe removal method. Agree on any extra work before it begins.
